Privacy policy
This explains what information DarkFrame Games collects when you play, why we need it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and in plain English.
Who we are
DarkFrame Games runs this website and is responsible for your information (the "data controller"). You can contact us at email or through our contact form.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address (used to log in and for password resets, never shown to other players), your display name (shown on leaderboards) and your password. Passwords are stored only as a secure one-way hash, never in readable form.
- Game data: coins, purchases, unlocked games, items, levels, best scores and a short history of coins earned and spent.
- Profile picture: the illustration you choose, or a photo you upload. Uploaded photos are cropped and shrunk to a small 256×256 image before they're saved.
- Invites: if you joined through a friend's invite link, which account invited you and whether you've confirmed your email. The friend sees only that someone joined, not who.
- Messages: what you send us through the contact form or by email.
- Settings: things like your theme and cookie choices.
- Optional analytics and ads data: only if you allow it in cookie settings. We use Google Analytics for this; we don't show ads today.
We don't ask for your real name, address, phone number or payment details. Coins can't be bought with money.
Why we use it
- To run your account and save your games, which is needed to provide the service you asked for (contract).
- To reset your password and send account emails, using your email only for this, never for marketing (contract).
- To reply to your messages (legitimate interests).
- To keep the site fair and secure, for example spotting impossible coin totals (legitimate interests).
- Analytics and ads, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Cookies and device storage
We use your browser's storage to keep you logged in and save your progress. See our cookie policy for the full list and to change your choices.
Who can see your account
A small number of site admins can see account details (display name, username and email), coin balances and history, and play history (scores, progress and items owned) to run the site, check for cheating and help players who contact us. Admins can add or remove coins, and every change they make is recorded with a reason. They can't see your password.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information. When online accounts launch, it will be stored with our web hosting provider, who may only use it to run the site for us. If you allow analytics, usage stats are shared with Google (Google Analytics). Any ads provider will be named in the cookie policy before it's used.
How long we keep it
- Account and game data: while your account exists. If you delete your account, it's removed within 30 days.
- Contact messages: up to 12 months after we've dealt with them.
- Password reset links: they expire after 30 minutes.
- Data stored in your browser: until you clear it or delete your account.
Children
Our games are for everyone. If you're under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before creating an account. We only collect what the games need and never show personalised ads to anyone we know is under 18.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct, download or delete your information, and object to or limit how we use it. To make a request, contact us and choose "Privacy or data request". We'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Keeping it safe
Passwords are hashed, uploaded pictures are re-processed to strip hidden data, and the site will use encrypted connections (HTTPS). No system is perfect, so please use a password you don't use anywhere else.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Big changes will be announced on the site.
